Zia Rosa San Marzano Plum Tomatoes 400 g (Pack of 12)
I have tried British tomatoes but the results weren’t quite as good. Plum tomatoes are better than chopped as the chopped can be firmer. When we don’t have tomatoes we have used jars of passata which, whilst not as good as the tinned tomatoes, still turn out a nice sauce.
If you do buy tinned tomatoes from the supermarket just have a read of this first
Pizza Sauce #1: Pizza Bible New York – New Jersey Tomato Sauce
This is one of my favourite sauces, such a great taste and easy to make.
San Marzano tomatoes, tomato puree, oregano, salt and oil blitzed with a hand blender then hand crushed tomatoes are added.

Pizza Sauce #2: Kenji’s New York Style Pizza Sauce
This is another of my favourite sauces. Tomatoes cooked in a pan with butter, oil, garlic, oregano, chilli flakes, salt, basil, onion halves and sugar. Pretty easy to make but so tasty.
Pizza Sauce #3: Pizza Bible Napoletana Tomato Sauce
San Marzano tomatoes pushed through a fine sieve and mixed with salt. That simple!
This is the traditional Neopolitan pizza sauce but I found it a bit weak and prefer the two sauces above.
