075/18: Burger Mac and Cheese

075/18 – Burger Mac and Cheese:

With Mac and Cheese pancakes left over from the last cook as well as some of the Mojo Rojo sauce there was only one thing for it – Burger Mac and Cheese!

087/18: Tuna Burger in Rice Buns

The Prep:

In previous posts I have mentioned my dissatisfaction from shop bought buns. My favourites at the moment are from the Byron book: Milk, water, yeast and sugar left for 5 minutes then added to Strong White Bread Flour,  Vitamin C Powder (Makes for a fluffier bun apparently!), salt, butter, and a whisked egg. Once mixed it was left to rest in a bowl for 3 hours then split into 8 balls and left to rise for 3 hours.

Before baking the rolls I added an egg wash then applied sesame seeds on top. 12 minutes in the oven at 200c:

The burgers were the BSR burgers from Turner and George – four for £7.20.

Thuros sent me a new T1 grill to cook with, time to fire it up.

First burger up. Toasted Bun, Mojo Rojo Sauce, Burger, Mac and Cheese Pancake then more Mojo Rojo sauce.  Burger Mac n Cheese

I wanted to try some cheese on mine so placed a bowl over the burger to melt it.

SUMMARY:

When I first had the idea of pulling this together I wasn’t sure if it would work but it was really tasty! The BSR burgers were as good as ever, the buns were awesome and the Mac and Cheese Pancakes with the Mojo Rojo sauce worked really well. Pretty easy cook but great end results.

Was good to cook on the T1, amazing how easy it is to light and how little charcoal it needs. Looking forward to cooking on it more often, especially kebabs! I will write up a review once I have cooked a fair bit on it, all good so far though.
